History

Established in 2002.
We have been making the best possible fried shrimp tacos in Los Angeles for over a decade now and have a strong following all over Southern California and beyond.
We have been tagged as a 'National Treasure' by none other than Mr. Jonathan Gold. We have also garnered attention from food critics, writers and bloggers across the nation giving us titles such as: 'Best Food Truck', 'Best Old School Truck', 'L.A. Taco Madness 2012 - Winner' and many other accolades.
We now offer two locations where you can find 'L.A.'s Taco' as Bill Esparza (streegourmetla) baptized us with that title since apparently these tacos cannot be found in Mexico and have become L.A.'s own.

Owner

Mr. Raul Ortega is originally from the small town of San Juan de los Lagos, Jalisco in Mexico.
In San Juan, Mr. Ortega he had many jobs since he was a child, his last before migrating to Los Angeles was selling steamed beef head tacos in the town's center plaza.
He immediately began selling his beef tacos while working at various jobs. Eventually he opened us his own taco truck and the rest is history.
Mr. Ortega can often be found working the lunch truck, taking or making orders, or talking to clients. If you happen to see him, stop him and say 'Hi'.

  You can't go wrong ordering the famous shrimp tacos but the entire menu is great. I usually have a shrimp and octopus cocktail and shrimp tacos or a tostada mixta. This a crispy tortilla with a layer of ceviche, avocado and topped with shrimp and octopus. It is a meal all by itself. If you haven't been you really should make time to go.

  AMAZING tacos!!!!! The al pastor were the best al pastor i have tried in CA so far... Who would know Los Angeles was going to come up with the best tacos in CA?!?!?!? Mariscos Jalisco and Carlos give great service which is a plus.

  Omg!! Im in love with this Shrim Tacos!! Im from Santa Rosa Ca, every time i go to L.A this is my first stop! Love them
